“ I came here on friday evening. Although we made a reservation, there would have been no wait since only 3 of the tables were occupied. I had previously ordered take out and decided that I needed to go in person to try this place. I ordered the Dahi puri, saag paneer, butter chicken, and garlic naan. It was my first time trying dahi puri, it was delicious and in my opinion, it is more flavorful than a pani puri. The saag paneer needed more flavor. I could not taste any spices in the sag paneer and it was dry! The butter chicken was good. The garlic naan could have used more garlic but I did like that it was fluffy. I wish I could give this a 3.5. I am not sure if I would go back. I prefer angel Indian restaurant in Jackson heights. ”
“ Oh, how I can not believe I live so close to this restaurant and not know how great it is. I live in Sunnyside for more than 25 years. The space where this restaurant preside is always been an Indian restaurant. But this is a different owner and different cook. Recently, I saw this restaurant and decided to take a chance. How I was totally blowing away for how well done the food was. I ordered takeout and these dishes was so flavorful, and the sauces were so thick. Omg each dishes can split into 3 meals because so little needed for rice. I will not order delivery from them because it took them almost 2 hours to deliver food I ordered. I will pickup when I order from them next time. ”
“ Searching for Indian food in our new neighborhood, bestie & I stumbled upon Cardamom & decided to go in on a Saturday evening. The place.. needed a bit of a cleanup, I'm not much for decor, but I like cleanliness. Place was nice, staff was friendly. & the food! The food has been top notch! Been visiting this place frequently, for pick ups & having dinners. You may be seating close to the next table over, but those shrimp apps, lamb chops & chicken tikka masala is worth it! ”
“ Really just writing this review to shout out the Caldeen curry, which tasted great with our waitress's recommendation of goat meat. So tangy & flavorful & a delightful entry to Indo-Portuguese cuisine. Samosas were my second-fave. Peeli Dal was not bad, just fairly mild in flavor, which helped pair with the highly flavorful Jeera Rice. I'd come back! ”
“ Service is very friendly. They really care about the food here and making sure patrons are enjoying their meals. The potatoe lamb croquettes were delicious. Ther were crispy but not oily. You could taste the meat and potato l. It was mildly spiced. The samosa chaat was delicious too. The lamb briyani was flavorful with a hint of spice. It was so good. The butter chicken was creamy and had a tomato flavor with no spice to it ( we hot mild). The food was a bit salty but we really enjoyed our food. The mango lassi was refreshing and comforting. Can't wait to return. ”
“ Delicious food, made from fresh ingredients. The flavors, the aromas, the ingredients all take you to the subcontinent where Cardamom reigns supreme. Service was friendly, consistent, and attentive. The owner was present and we complimented how clean the restaurant is and how tasty the food was. I enjoyed the richness and freshness of the Methi Chicken. Samosas were delicate and not dried out. This is a great stop for a taste of India. ”
“ Short review: Of all things, the best stuff here were the seafood dishes (blame Goa being a big fishing area I guess.) Excellent Goan Fish and Tandoori Shrimp among other things. As per most of my other recent reviews, I was at this restaurant a while ago with one of the groups. I in fact went there long enough that I don't really remember all the details. They specialize in Goan food; a subset of Indian food with Portuguese influences. We shared a bunch of dishes and the staff was friendly and sat outside. To drink, I had a Masala Chaas which was a bit different than the usual spots being greener. It had the usual buttermilk along with spices otherwise though it was almost a bit too spiced for my liking. I tried the Mango Lassi from someone else which was good and thick. Staff was friendly We ordered the following with the current prices listed afterwards: Achari Mushrooms- $10 Goan Fish (mahi mahi-) $19 Paneer Makhani- $18 Lamb Xacuti- $22 Goan Tandoori Shrimp- $22 Saag Chana- $18 Sukha Chicken- $20 Lamb Methi Curry- $22 Vegetarian Jalfrezi - $18 Caldeen Salmon- $19 In terms of the more Goan dishes, we skipped the vindaloo as the host didn't want something too spicy. The caldeen salmon was excellent with a mild coconut sweetness and the Lamb Xacuti also had some good coconut flavor along with some curry leaves. As with the salmon, the fish was also cooked really well in the Goan fish with a good kick as well which I appreciated. Of the Goan dishes, my least favorite was the sukha which had a good dry curry but the issue was that the chicken itself was also a bit dry. The tandoori shrimp being a highlight being perfectly cooked and just well spiced. In terms of the rest of the non-Goan dishes, they were above average with the saag chana being quite tasty. The methi had a good light bitterness from the fenugreek and the paneer in said makhani dish was cooked properly with a good texture and the sauce wasn't overly sweet as some versions of the dish are. My least favorite of the group was the jalfrezi which had a good mix of vegetables though I found it to be a bit bland compared to the rest. My least favorite thing even though it was tasty was the mushrooms. The flavor was good with some good sourness and they were well roasted but the portion was a bit skimpy. For breads/sides, we got the Garlic Naan for $5 and the Kashmiri Naan for $7. Both were warm and excellent with the garlic naan having not too much ghee. I wish there was a bit more nuts in the Kashmiri naan there and not just a whole lot of reddened coconut but at least it wasn't overly sweet and the portion size of both breads was good. They of course gave rice with all the curries. For dessert, I ordered the Mango Kulfi for $5. This was excellent with a good kick of saffron. It was properly dense as expected for kulfi as well. I'd recommend it. Solid spot. I can see why others love it and I would go back. Mid 4 bumped up for the friendly service and overall excellent dishes. ”
“ Ahhh such great service and such delicious food! Felt like a modern take on Indian food but definitely authentic. For myself, I wanted to order something light since I had eaten a slice of pizza right before. Their starter dishes ended up being much larger than I expected, but at a low price! I ordered the chicken 65, the crispy eggplant, and a mango lassi. The chicken 65 was like a saucy fried chicken - delicious flavor, good spices but not spicy and paired well with the onions and curry leaves (I think?) on top. The crispy eggplant (I forgot the official name!) was soooo so good and so unique!! The dish is served cold with the eggplant sliced thinly into chips and fried. This has a yogurt sort of drizzle on top and it was so yummy. This definitely should be shared hahah so I had to take this back along with the chicken. It still tastes good even with less of a crunch! The mango lassi was not too sweet and you could actually taste the mango and yogurt components in it. It felt lighter than other mango lassis I had. And look at how big that glass is! My servers were also very sweet. I would return here and bring friends next time! Thank you!! ”
“ Hands down one of the best Indian spots I've eaten at. Not pictured is the bread basket with different types of naans, lassi, and a paneer for starters. All the food was fresh and delicious. You can decide on spice level if needed. Everything was so flavorful. Service was kind and attentive. The chef also came out with our food. Ambiance is homey and casual. ”
“ Whenever I go out for Indian food, it's always a treat for me. It's a type of cuisine I haven't attempted to make at home because I feel like I won't get it right. Regardless, Cardamom has a great reputation and I couldn't wait to try them out. Simply put, everything we ordered was outstanding. From the biryani and the rosemary naan to the Cardamom mixed grill, we were in awe of every thing that we ordered. The flavors were there. The spice level was just right. I accompanied my food with an iced chai (very delish) and we were treated to a traditional dessert for Diwali! All in all an incredible experience and I would recommend this spot to anyone! ”
